Greeting Point

The "Greeting" is always performed prior to addressing any other area of the body. It establishes harmony between an associate and the recipient. Because this technique requires skin to skin contact to be most effective, it is recommended that the associate carefully wash the hands before every ministration.

All procedures use two-hands, but the "Greeting" is performed only with two fingers of the dominant hand. If one is naturally right handed, the first two fingers of the right hand are used to perform the Greeting. If left-handed, the first two fingers of the left hand are used. If ambidextrous, use either hand.

The "Greeting" is made by first touching with the index and middle fingers of the dominant hand at point "1", which is in the fleshy area just below the bottom of the breastbone, or sternum. Hold this point for at least six seconds. Then with the same fingers, touch point "2", which is on the back about 1 to 1 1/2 inches to the left of the big bone at the base of the neck. Contact, again, should be held for about six to eight seconds.

It should be noted that more than one associate may perform the "Greeting" and thereby both associates may work simultaneously on a recipient. However, if someone who has not performed the "Greeting" touches the recipient, the "Greeting" must be re-established, and the ministration may proceed from where it was interrputed. It is recommended to follow this same procedure for any other interruption, such as answering the telephone or doorbell. Simply perform the Greeting again, and continue from where the session was left off.
