We must always change, renew, rejuvenate ourselves; otherwise we harden.
–Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

For me, it happens every spring: personal renewal and rejuvenation that starts in the month of March. It’s when I cast aside my sweaters, feeling the sun’s softening warmth on my skin. As the mellow breeze touches me I blossom, mentally and physically, as sure as the plants and trees. My moods lift; my sluggish energy levels soar, reignited by a primal excitement that hibernated during the cooler months. It’s something I’ve come to expect…an internal knowing.

Self awareness is a fundamental component of the Bio-Touch philosophy, and an important tool for inner renewal. Self awareness is a journey of self-discovery; it’s about understanding who we are, how we think, what we feel, and how we react to situations.

Practicing self awareness is a way people can become intentionally and non-judgmentally aware of their thoughts and actions in the present moment, without getting caught up in the past or worrying about tomorrow. Rendered powerless by the frenzy of what’s going on around us, we often overlook what’s happening in the moment. Why is that a problem? Because on a day-to-day basis it causes stress and strain, wear and tear, and becomes detrimental to our physical and emotional health.

With the arrival of another March, I’m determined to rush around less, and pay attention more. I plan to slow down, take a deep breath before beginning an activity, and focus on the process. And, I’m going to observe my thoughts and emotions, especially during stressful times, to gain a measure of control over them. Thank you, Bio-Touch, for highlighting the importance of becoming mindfully aware. With a little practice, we can all start feeling renewed and rejuvenated this spring, and all year long.
